Every avid follower and player of FIFA 19 Ultimate Team, worth his salt, knows that the best cards you could own are of the FIFA 19 Icons. Those who know this, also know how low the probability of getting one of these rare cards is. The only alternative we are left with is to hold on to our precious coins and save up for one, considering how notoriously high their prices are.
Considering all this I thought, why not share with you a few worthy alternatives that are considerably cheaper. These may not be as coveted, but are hidden gems – all for under 660k. Here are my top 5 FIFA 19 Icons in no particular order.
Emmanuel Petit (LB, 85 OVR)
I’m starting off the list with Emmanuel Petit. The Frenchman is the most affordable card on the list and costs only as much as 470k coins. He’s one of the greatest defenders amongst the FIFA 19 Icons, regardless of his overall low rating. With faultless defensive stats he is a great addition to your team, but keep in mind that he isn’t ideal for a left-back because of his pace rating of 80. Petit stands tall at 6’1” with stamina of 87. He can definitely be played defensive either as a midfielder or in front of the back four.
Hidetoshi Nakata (CAM, 88 OVR)
After the weakest, I bring to you one of the strongest. The Japanese Legend has a composure of 90, ball control of 90 and a vision of 93. Hidetoshi Nakata is a veteran your opponents wouldn’t want to come face to face with on the field. The beauty of this card is he will provide your strikers with multiple chances through the matche’s duration and can easily be bought from the transfer market for about 500k coins. If your lucky stars are shining, you could win him as a reward through Squad Building Challenges as well. Nakata would make a solid addition to any team. Don’t miss him.
Alessandro Nesta (CB, 92 OVR)
The next player on our list needs no introduction. Every FIFA player of the earlier days is familiar with this stalwart Italian. Just like Hidetoshi, Alessandro Nesta can also be won as a Squad Building Challenge reward. A powerful defender, he boasts of some of the greatest strength rating, heading and defending stats in the game. Available on the market for just over 600k, he’s worth every coin invested in him.
Marc Overmars (LW, 88 OVR)
Looking for a fast-paced player to add to your team? Marc Overmars is just the man you need. Priced at a high 590k, his 90 OVR rated card has an equally fast-paced alternative – an 88 OVR rated Overmars, priced at a sweet 470k. Both versions of Overmars have the same speed of 94, with minor variations in the remaining stats, that contribute to the difference in the OVR rating. With a speed of 94, ball control at 86, 88 reactions, 89 composure and balance of 87, Overmars is the perfect fit for any team – leaving your opponents dazed.
Alan Shearer (ST, 91 OVR)
Now for the last and the best Icon Card on the list – the legendary Alan Shearer. With his strength of 88, maintaining perfect control of the ball and with a pretty decent pace of 81, Shearer is one of the most well-rounded FIFA 19 Icons there is. With an accuracy of 94 and finishing at 95, he’s perfect for offensive play, always prepped to score. Priced at 550k, though slightly more expensive than a few of the names on this list, at this cost Shearer is clearly one of the best-valued players you can find at this price. One of the best strikers in the game, he’ll easily net you a few goals in a single match. Much like in reality, most of us know him for his iconic antics on the field, though most of the people out there are completely unaware of his prowess in offensive play. The FIFA 19 Icon card pays an ode to this legendary status of Alan Shearer. Little did you know that this quaint choice would be an invaluable gem in your kitty.
